Eye-opening tidbits about our tax system:

The easiest form, the 1040EZ, has thirty-three pages of
instructions.

There are 114,000 employees at the IRS. That’s more than the CIA
or the FBI, and that number will increase by another 16,500 to enforce the
Affordable Health Care Act, which kicks into full gear in 2014.

Technically, income tax is voluntary (but not optional)!

A government study released in 2004 showed that 38% of big
companies (with $250M+ in assets, or $50M+ annual revenue) paid no federal
income taxes.

Benjamin Franklin, on November 13, 1789, wrote the following to
Jean-Baptiste Leroy: “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an
appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to
be certain, except death and taxes.”
